Anderson’s Candy Shop was founded in 1919 by Arthur and Gertrude Anderson. Their dream was built on hard work, a book of candy recipes and a used copper kettle Arthur bought with money he borrowed from an in-law.
Arthur believed that despite the penny-candy fad of the era, if he made a quality product, he could sell his original candies to adults – primarily in cigar shops and menswear stores downtown.
Four generations, a move to Richmond, Illinois and 100 plus years later, the great-grand children of Arthur and Gertrude are still making that high quality candy today.
Proving daily that it’s a commitment to quality ingredients and doing things the right way – that always yields the best results.
Anderson’s Candies are made using many of the family’s first and second generation recipes, and virtually all of the same equipment and methods as our founders.
